Latest Cricut Club Project

Posted on

This past Saturday, Feb. 22nd, was our monthly meeting of the Cricut Club.  Every month we do some sort of project or mini class involving Cricut products in some way.  This month I gave myself a challenge.  In the past we have done box projects or a card of some sort.  I wanted to include another aspect of crafting and make a two page layout for our scrapbooking members.  The challenge to myself was to make that two page layout using nothing but the cartridges in the store library to make most of the embellishments, photo mats, title, etc.  This was a big undertaking for me as I didn’t know where to even begin.  Well, that all changed as I started to play with ideas and as I began it started to come together relatively quickly and easily.

Here are the two pages I came up with:

CC1_2-2

CC2-2

For the title I used the Type Candy Font cartridge.  This cartridge had the best flow of the font that I was looking for.  Using the Craft Room I then welded the letters together to make it easier to place.  To adhere them to the page I used pop up foam to give the title and page some dimension.

For the corner embellishments I used the Happily Ever After cartridge and used the main icon image of Aurora Bedroom which also gave the detail cuts.

The photo mats, butterfly frame, and journaling mats were taken from the Elegant Edges cartridge.

And finally, the flowers.  The flowers were found on our Ultimate Creative Sampler Cartridge.  It was taken from the Blossoms cartridge I believe.  The image was actually the layer image so I had to use real dial size to get the sizes I wanted without having to play around to get the right size.  I started at 3 inches and went down 1/2 inch for each subsequent flower.  The large one had a base of 3 inches with 4 flowers, the medium a base of 2 1/2 inches with 4 flowers and the small had a base of 2 inches with 3 flowers.

Then to add just a little bling and a little something, I added some double dot ribbon to the corners of the photo mats (each one about 4.5 inches) and emerald rhinestones as the dots to the “i’s” in the title and  around the page.

And there you have it, with the exception of the rhinestones and ribbon, I made a two page layout using only in store cartridges.  You would be amazed at some of the other ideas I thought of when looking through all the cartridges we had.  Using one from this cartridge, a couple from that cartridge, and so on.  Don’t limit yourself to just one cartridge for your projects, there is a lot out there.

This page went over well with scrapbookers and non-scrabookers alike so I have set the bar even higher.  What am I going to do next time?

Passing on some information

Our friend Doris came up with a great idea and I wanted to pass it along. Feel free to share with all your friends.  Here it is:

Greetings Everyone!! Doris Goulet here for those of you who know me. Hoping that this post finds you all well and looking forward to what the holidays have to offer. I am looking to all of you, whether you know me or not, for some help in creating a CASH MOB in support of Mimi’s Crop Circle in Burien, WA. Like with any small business, Mimi’s Crop Circle could use a financial boost, therefore, could use your help. I know that many of us love the opportunities that Mimi’s brings into our lives and want to continue to see it prosper. Remember that Mimi’s success is our success as well in that we will always have this fabulous playpen at our disposal to shop in and to play in.

Here is my proposal. Let’s get a CASH MOB together and descend upon Mimi’s Crop Circle on Saturday, 2 November 2013, and show Mimi’s that we care. A CASH MOB, as you may or may not know, involves hundreds of people who descend upon a small business with $20 in hand committed to spend that $20 in that establishment. Let’s do it for Mimi’s.

I will be hosting this “event” from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm and will have refreshments on hand. Lots of camaraderie will be on hand as well. Please, let’s do this collectively and help make a difference. Can’t make the date or the time?? No problem…… Mail a check in the amount of $20.00 to:

Mimi’s Crop Circle
152 SW 152nd Street
Burien, WA 98166

Do it now while you are thinking about it and we will reserve a $20.00 gift card in your name waiting for your next visit. Be a part of something big and mail your check today to get to Mimi’s in time to help make this a financial success for all of us. I am looking forward to seeing all of you on the 2nd of November. It will be exciting. Come and see your friends and bring a friend. In fact, feel free to forward this email to any of your friends that might want to participate. Social media is powerful. Let’s make it work for all of us with our on-line friends and shoppers!!

Until then…… take care…….

Hugs to all – Doris
